Cafe Racer Glam Girl
I am a firm believer in creating wedding inspiration for every bride out there—the girlie girls who want glitter and peonies, the boho girls who wants driftwood and henna, and even the badass girl who wants leather and lace. Because in this day and age, a girl can have any wedding theme she dreams up. Gone are the days when brides were conformed to puffy sleeves, Calla lilies and a cake that stacked 9 ties too tall. This styled shoot, dubbed “Cafe Racer Glam Girl” proves just how lovely leather, rose gold and even pink are when crafted the right way.
The venue, Presqu’ile Winery, was the perfect backdrop for us to style our ceremony scene and reception table, which features ghost chairs, marble chargers and black silverware. The cake, a gold and marbled masterpiece, sits among an array of Himalayan rock salt, hexagon shelves (crafted by Dark Marquee Designs) and Pampas grass. The bouquet, an extra wide arrangement, is another modern trend brides all over are embracing. And let’s not forget the seriously stunning vintage engagement ring provided by Trumpet & Horn. An edible delicacy, created by the master chefs at Field to Table, feature edible dirt and tiny quail eggs, and a local coffee bar adds a nice touch at the end.
My invitation suite was carefully crafted to fit this unique theme and the results are stunning. I used a bold, brush script font for the lettering and set the typography on marble paper to bring out the other marbled elements. I used ballet pink paper for the main envelope, and RSVP and quote cards to balance out the marble and add in another signature color. I then added gold paint and splatter around the edges of the quote card to tie in the gold—found also in the gold hexagon envelope liner and invitation wrap. Black and white baker’s twine was then used to tie everything up into a creative and presentable piece, showing brides all over that you don’t have to use Edwardian calligraphy and parchment paper to make a statement.
So just remember that your wedding is yours—make it the way you’ve always seen it, no matter how different or dark it is. Go ahead and make your special day filled with cafe racers and glam girls.
